Children's Ministry

We invite children to be a part of the Sunday morning "Children's Time". The program begins during our Sunday service and adjourns at 10:30 to our fellowship hall to continue with individual and group activities. In addition to this weekly ministry, there is a week long summer program - usually in the month of August.

United Methodist Women (UMW)

The South Otselic United Methodist Church has a women's group whose mission is to address concerns of women and children both locally and globally. It is part of the larger body of United Methodist Women in other United Methodist Churches. In the upper New York Conference the UMW sponsors a School of Christian Mission each year. The school features a week long experience of Bible Study and social concerns based around women and children.

Sixty Plus

The Chenango County Office of the Aging provides, in our church, an evening meal for seniors on one Friday of each month. The meals are generally for those over 60, but others are welcome for a modest fee to cover the cost of food.

Care and Share Pantry

Our church stands ready to respond to the needs of individuals and families to help with food and nutrition care. We are participating with the Food Bank of CNY. Our pantry serves Chenango County residents in the Otselic Valley Central School District. Hrs. - Thursday 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

Bible Study

The South Otselic United Methodist Church has various opportunities for Bible Study. Please see our What's Happening page.

Sunshine Shop

As a recent venture, the Sunshine Shop provides good, clean, used, and sometimes new clothing and small household items at very low cost to those who visit our facility. Items are also made available on a seasonal basis. Emergency needs are also met as they arise.

Bereavement/Life Celebrations

As the need or opportunity arises, we celebrate with families joyous occasions, and when appropriate, provide luncheons and other support in times of loss.

Technology Ministry

Led by Deedrick Bertholf, this ministry is designed to assist people in developing their computer skills so they can adequately function in the environment and culture of technology that we currently live in, as well as develop skills for the workforce of today. It is also designed to help computer users protect their identity, in addition to their computers. The classes are designed for beginners and those with experience. The schedule of classes will vary by semester. There is no charge and all are welcome.

Otselic Valley Fishing and Heritage Association

This group was formed in 2008 to increase the awareness of the history of the area's sport fishing and fishing line industry. Fishing Heritage Day is a family event held the 3rd Saturday of each May in the Town Park and at the State Fish Hatchery, both in South Otselic. Meetings are held at the South Otselic United Methodist Church the 3rd Wednesday of the month from September to May at 7:00 pm. All are welcome.
